2 different directions... what do you think?

So, these are what I've come up with so far for Green Sprout. Just clean and simple. I do really like these, but for whatever reason I wanted to try something else completely different just to see.

I had some sort of statement here, but I think it is probably way too open to interpretation. I basically want to show that Green Sprout offers hot, filling, vegetarian meals disguised as meat and this in turn means 'eating green' in a whole new way.

The green paint represents the idea of 'eating green' and the hamburger is something savory and filling. This ties back into the tag line 'green never tasted so good'. I don't know... I like the design, but I'm even starting to confuse MYSELF with this one... haha, I remember hearing we are designing for the simple-minded public, so I don't think this would really make sense to anyone. Especially since the place doesn't even sell hamburgers. I just wanted to represent a new way to think about vegetarian dining, and maybe turn non-vegetarian on to the restaurant and give it a sort of edge.

I showed my friend and he asked 'why would I want to eat a hamburger dipped in green paint?'. So, based on that, I think I'm going to scratch this idea. The first set seems like it's less to take in and is much more safe.

  1. Yeah, if the place doesn't sell hamburgers, it would be best to not showcase something that's not there. But I think the creativity is good, thinking outside of the box. Something unexpected. Just because it's much more safe, doesn't mean it's the best direction to take sometimes.

Besides that, the first three ads look really nice, as well as having a relationship with each other. How big is the type for the paragraph in the first ad? I feel like it could be bigger to read legible. In my opinion.

  2. wow like it. The forks in the field one is the best. I like the crisp simplicity of your design.

  3. I like the tag line, but I'm not seeing anything that "taste good." I guess it's hard to think up green things that taste good since they're either vegetable (blah ^^) or moldy things. How about just real photographs of the food there?

  4. @tres - I was leaning towards making the type bigger... but I don't want it to get too tacky and unprofessional. I think it's 9pt. I would make it a different color, but I don't want it to interfere with the hills. I tried it and blah.

@patti - Thanks! Thinking about it now, I guess the simplicity of the design lends itself to the logo, the stationery stuff, and the general feel of the place rather than the second idea.

@sarah - I was actually thinking what about a green cow, but I don't want to seem too similar to the chic-fil-a cows.

@loc - Well, I was hoping the forks and the generally 'pleasant' colors would lend to a feeling of something good and green. I don't want to take photographs because that's not my forte and I think it's been seen way too many times before. Thanks for the suggestion though. 本当にありがとうございましたね。

  6. Oh, don't try to change the color of the type. I was just referring that the size might look more readable if it was a bit bigger. :)

  7. very creative. I really like the top 3.

I would recommend before changing sizes of fonts to print everything out. I just printed today and it really showed me what I need to work on.. like sizes etc.

  8. I actually really like the last one. I think the concept was really creative and clever. I thought it was funny too. But as far as carrying out the sam ekind of concept and designs, the top 3 are awesome as well. The design is very cool... I think the way you have used the forks as plants is really cool and it works very well. good job!

  9. I think the first 3 are GREAT designs but honestly I think the fourth is the type of ad that would make me stop and really look, too bad they don't sell hamburgers. I don't know if that means its a better design, cause it may not be, but it definitely catch my eye
